Smith works in a number of different media, creating metal sculptures out of 55-gallon drums, painting on oyster shells, staged photography, and more, following her instincts with each new project. During this fascinating long-form discussion, we delve into the origins of that multi-disciplinary approach to art-making, as well as the challenges that come with such a diverse creative output.
