We begin the show with a tribute to Rob's dad, Duke Hessler, who passed away on Monday, May 30th, 2022 after a long illness.
Then we dive into a discussion of First Friday and everything that Sulfur Studios and Arts Southeast has to offer, after which we play our Field Note with current On::View Artist in Residence Timothy Harding!
Finally, we end the show touching on a few other local events happening during First Friday, including HYPE at Location Gallery, Starlandia Supply's 7-year anniversary celebration, and Meg Kettelkamp's "Ghosts," a pop up show at a former house.

Two big interviews this week!
First, we spoke with several members of The Artists and the Truck, a group of men whose history as friends and artists goes back over thirty years, about their current exhibition at Location Gallery.
Then we chatted with Samantha Mack from her studio about her upcoming exhibition Through a Kaleidoscope. Although technically a thesis show for her MFA in painting, the artist is bringing a unique show of crochet and light to the gallery at Sulfur Studios.

On this week's episode of Art on the Air, we're pleased to present our Field Note with Rule of 3 Gallery Director Stephanie "Sunshine" Forbes and her father Rob Forbes all about Rob's exhibition "Childish Things!"
Raised in an orphanage, Rob Forbes childhood was a combination of moments of light and darkness. His latest exhibition at Rule of 3 Gallery is the kind of artistic and personal undertaking that is over fifty years in the making.
Meanwhile, for Stephanie Forbes, as both curator of the show and the artist's daughter, the exhibition is a profound moment of connection between here and her dad, and the fulfillment of a lifelong dream of properly showcasing the work of a man who has inspired and raised her.

Monica Jane Frisell & Adam Scher have been driving around the United States in a truck, hauling a custom trailer that they've converted into a darkroom and office. At each stop, they're recording stories and taking portraits of the locals, compiling them for their series, "Portrait of US."
This month, the pair have brought "the Ark" to Savannah as part of the On::View Residency at Sulfur Studios, and we're delighted to share our Field Note with them for this week's episode of Art on the Air!
As a special bonus, Frisell and Scher have sent us four stories that they've recorded during their travels that we'll be airing during the second half of the episode, powerful tales of moments that have had a profound impact on the person doing the telling.
